In my journey for cleaner living for both myself and my family, finding alternatives to traditional soda has been a top priority for me. That being said, this is a tall order. When your family is used to sodas they’ve drank for years, I find it to be challenging to find a replacement they’ll embrace.
So far, Olipop seems like the most promising alternative. I’ve been buying one can at a time of different flavors to see what hits and what doesn’t. Here are our favorites plus the ones we probably won’t buy again. I’m ordering them from our most liked, to least liked. There are some mixed reviews as well, where my husband and I did not like a flavor at all, but my stepson loved it, so I’ll include those notes. I’ll also be adding flavors to the list as we try them.
1. Cream Soda
In complete transparency, I have not tried this one, but my husband has tried all of them and said this was his top pick so far. We’ll be getting this one again.
2. Classic Root Beer
Out of the flavors I’ve tried, this was my top pick. It was really very close to a traditional root beer soda. Our family is big on root beer floats, so I think this will be an easy swap for us.
3. Strawberry Vanilla
This flavor was bright, sweet, and fun. It reminded me of drinking Shasta when I was a kid, because I probably haven’t drank a flavored soda like this since then. I really enjoyed it and would totally get it again for a refreshing afternoon pick-me-up.
4. Cherry Cola
I went into this one thinking it was going to be like a Pepsi, and it really wasn’t. Definitely strong on the cherry side, which I guess it’s in the name, so that’s on me. I didn’t like it though and my husband didn’t either. This is one that we won’t be buying again, but you don’t have to take my word for it. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
5. Watermelon Lime
This is the one that my husband and I didn’t like at all. The flavor was very strong and almost like drinking a Jolly Rancher. But, our son did like it, probably for the reasons we didn’t. But to be fair, he also didn’t drink the whole thing, so maybe he didn’t love it that much?
In The Fridge: Tropical Punch
Review coming soon! This one is in the fridge, but we haven’t opened it yet. They call this one of their best sellers, so it seems promising.
